Best seasons for Pike Hill Trekking:
The best time for this wonderful adventure is the mid-spring and autumn to pre-winter seasons, spring from March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November months. Can visit during the pre-winter time also in early December where days clear but cold morning and night time. Springtime from March to May is lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons and orchids of various species.
Which you will witness during flowering times around high Pike hill during March to May. In the spring season, most days are fine and with longer sun-light hours, but can get an overcast late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes on high altitude, as well on passes.
Autumn / fall from September to November another best time for this trek with fine days, clear blue sky for views and walks. But days are shorter due to sun-light hours, temperatures drop to a cold morning, late afternoon, and nighttime around higher elevation, but clear starry nights. Chances of snow on tracks above 2,000 m as well on passes.
Religion and Culture:
Starting from Solu area, the eastern people are of mixed peoples, mostly Sherpa, Rai of Kirat tribes with few Gurung, Magar, and Tamang with Hindu Chettries and Brahmin. As you enter in the heart of Solu, southern areas of Mt. Everest from Phaplu village on route to Pike Hill, highly populated by highlanders the Sherpa tribe interwoven to Buddhism religion of age-old heritage and colorful culture.

Pike Hill Trekking, an enjoyable adventure on the least visited pockets of the southern Everest area around the district of Solu. This trek is more beautiful for nature and flower lovers in springtime when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom.
Especially the rhododendron of various species from short bushes to tall tree lines makes the surroundings environment bright and colorful.
Pike Hill Trekking, where few groups of trekkers seldom visit due to its remote location with minimum facilities of lodges.
However, one of the most marvelous countries to venture within its pristine wilderness with unmatched views of high snow peaks. At present Pike, is slowly gaining popularity among trekkers, who are interested in walking around serene pleasant surroundings.
Pike Hill Trekking, begins with a swift short flight from Kathmandu to land at Solu small airstrip in Phaplu. A lovely village close to Salleri Bazaar, the headquarter town of Solu-Khumbu district, situated south of Mt. Everest.
After an exciting time at Phaplu in the comfort of a nice lodge and warm hospitality of Sherpa people. The indigenous mountain tribes of Eastern Himalaya interwoven to strong Buddhism religion and culture. One can notice in the first place as you land at Phaplu airport, with time to explore the lovely Solu area.
From Phaplu first day walk starts heading west through nice villages and farm fields to enter the cool shade of the forest. As route leads to short uphill then reaching at Pike base camp, on leaving villages and farm areas.
The base camp is located on the foot of Pike Hill, amidst beautiful forest surroundings with tall rhododendron and pines trees. A lovely spot with few small houses serving as lodges and tea shops for travelers, an overnight in this serene environment.
Next, early morning start climbs into the forested trail on winding uphill path all the way on top Pike Hill. The highest point of the adventure at 4,067 m, offers a stunning panorama of Himalayan peaks with striking sunrise views.
Enjoy facing super views of a Himalayan mountain range from Manaslu, Ganesh, and Langtang in the northwest with Jugal Himal. Overlooking Gaurishankar, Melung Tse, Numbur peas towards the north with Mt. Everest and Makalu in the east direction. After a most mesmerizing moment downhill walk back into farm areas of Loding and Junbesi village. An interesting village of Junbesi populated by the Sherpa community an opportunity to observe the local culture of immense interest.
With time here at Junbesi village for a day hike to famous Thubten Choeling, a large monastery, and a nunnery. Located in pristine surroundings and isolated from main trails and villages with views of Numbur and Dudh Kund Himal.
After an enjoyable time around Thubten Choeling monastery and at Junbesi, the walk leads back to Phaplu for the last overnight stop. Next morning a short scenic flight brings you to Kathmandu, after a memorable adventure and experience on Pike Hill Trekking.

Day 05: Trek to Pike Hill Base Camp 3,640 m /11,942 feet- 06 hrs.

Loding 2,515 m- 07 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Junbesi 2,675 m – 05 hrs.
Day 08: Rest day at Junbesi hike to Thubten Choeling Monastery.

Day 10: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu with afternoon free at leisure.
