Overview
Overviews:
Mt. Lhotse Mountaineering Expedition takes you on the same route of
Mt. Everest and sharing the same base camp. Right beneath towering
Mt. Lhotse and Nuptse peaks and close to the notorious massif Khumbu Ice-Fall
and glaciers.
Mt. Lhotse at the height of 8,516 m / 27,940 feet high, was first summited by a
Swiss Expedition. A team of veteran mountaineers Frank Luchsinger and Edward
Reiss reached the summit of Mt. Lhotse on May 18th, 1956.
From then on the mountain was active with few expeditions over the past few
decades. Two routes to choose from for the climb of Mt. Lhotse, the main trail is
almost similar to Mt. Everest. Which is going over Khumbu Ice-fall and towards
Everest’s Geneva Spur. From then on, the route diverts following a steep climb
through a long couloir to the summit of Mt. Lhotse.
Mt. Lhotse is an amazing and unique mountain with two adjoining peaks besides
the main highest Lhotse. The lowest Lhotse Shar is 8,383 m high with Lhotse East,
also known as Middle, standing at 8,413 m. The highest peak at 8,516 meters is
Lhotse Main, the first successful ascent on Lhotse Middle was only in 2001.
Few adventurers have tried climbing from the southern route of Imjatse valley to
the summit of Mt. Lhotse. But the success rate is minimal compared to the
northern close to Mt. Everest routes.
However, whatever the best route is chosen the mountains stand challenging and
require full logistic support. Starting the Mt. Lhotse Mountaineering Expedition
with well-planned preparations, a year beforehand, and booking with a reliable
company. Like Brown Bear Trails, with an expert team of guides knowing
mountaineering skills and techniques.
The expedition starts flying to Lukla at Tenzing & Hillary Airport and then heading
towards the famous Namche Bazaar. A great and good place for acclimatization
and exploring adjoining villages and scenic viewpoints.
From the Namche, the adventure continues ahead reaching Tengboche
the monastery, a nice place for views of Mt. Everest and Lhotse.
After a goodwill tour of the monastery at Tengboche monastery, getting blessed
by the priest for a safe and successful climb. The adventure leads higher getting
close to Mt. Lhotse and Everest base camp, after spending overnights at
Dingboche and Lobuche. Finally, the walk follows the dramatic trail to Lhotse base
camp, which is also the classic camp. For all mountaineers on route to Everest and
Lhotse summits, negotiating the tough obstacles over Khumbu Ice-Fall.
Heavy preparation and planning take place at base camp, after assembling all
expeditions’ loads of food, camping gear, and equipment.
For Mt. Lhotse summit bids requires a maximum of five camps, including the base
camp. The climbers and high altitude porters and guides need to ferry the load to
these four higher camps.
Regarding the final summit of Mt. Lhotse, after storing needful foods and gear in
higher camps. Choosing the right day for the summit, as well climbing to the last
final camp before the summit bid.
Depending upon the Himalayan weather pattern in the best seasons of the year,
where timing with the right clear day is important. Brown Bear reserves 15 days
for the climb and descent from the base camp, including contingency days also.
After a tough challenging and technical climb to the top of Mt. Lhotse at a mere
distance from Mt. Everest. Enjoying the glory of the panoramic scenery of the Sea
of Snow Mountains, a safe descent is made to the base camp.
Clearing the base camp, leaving nothing but your footprint, and then returning
journey downhill to the lower elevation of Namche Bazaar.
Then ending the arduous adventure at Lukla, for an exciting flight to Kathmandu,
after an overwhelming experience on Mt. Lhotse Mountaineering Expeditions.
