Overview
Markha Valley Rupshu Tso Mori-Ri & Mentok Khang-Ri Peak Climb, one of the most exciting adventures within the vast plain of Ladakh. Geographically an extension of Tibet’s South West plateau, as well world highest and largest tableland, of a desert landscape. But with high snow-capped peaks of Ladakh and Zanskar Himal range, stretches to Karakorum Himalayas towards Far North West.

Where adventurous walks take to remote country within an absolute wilderness of high peaks and rolling brown, red hills. The region of trekking although an arid country, but much scenic and picturesque with emerald-colored turquoise lakes. The main lakes are Tso Kar and the huge Tso Morori-Ri, where giant peaks of Mentok Khang-Ri are located.

A wonderful trek and climb close within the boundary of Himachal state and Ladakh areas within beautiful Tso Mori-Ri Lake. Situated close to the high peaks of Mentok Khang-Ri, where one can enjoy the tremendous panorama of Rupshu and the beautiful valleys of Ladakh.
Markha Valley Rupshu Tso Mori-Ri & Mentok Khang-Ri Peak Climb begins after enjoying a lovely pleasant time at Leh. Spending a few days with an exciting tour at places of great historical and religious interest, enriched with ancient cultural heritage.
Tour of famous sites and landmarks that Ladakh has to offer, visit of Shanti Stupa, Shey and Khar Palace. A drive takes you beyond the town of Leh for an impressive tour of Thiksey and Hemis, the oldest monasteries of Ladakh.
After a wonderful tour around Leh, the capital of Ladakh at 3,500 m high, a perfect place for acclimatization. Our adventure starts heading towards Markha and Rupshu valleys into the pure mountain wilderness, where trekkers can experience the real outback. Walking around rural villages and isolated settlements of Yak and cattle herders within vast windswept valleys enclosed by towering peaks. The adventure leads to cross eight scenic passes above 5,000 m high, traversing from one picturesque to another around fascinating areas.
As walk progresses with a long day walk on high-altitude terrains to reach our main goal of the adventure. On reaching Mentok Khang-Ri Peak base camp, the major highlight of the trip, where our expert guides. Leads you to an exciting climb on top Mentok Khang-Ri 6, 253 m, after a steep haul over snow and ice.
The climbing grade as per French / Swiss Alpine Climbing classification systems, as ‘PD+’, which means “Per Difficule”. A straightforward climb with some technical difficulty sections to tackle to reach the summit of Mentok Khang-Ri.
From the top, rewards a spectacular panorama of surrounding high snow-capped peaks with scenic valleys of Markha and Rupshu. Enjoy the grand vista of Tso Mororiri down below with miniature summer settlements of Yak herder.
After achieving the goal of a lifetime experience heads towards Korzok village around Chang-Tang plains for the drive back to Leh. Enjoy the last overnight in Leh and Ladakh, after an amazing experience on Markha Valley Rupshu Tso Mori-Ri & Mentok Khang-Ri Peak Climb.

Day 22: Trek to Korzok 4, 500 m -04 hrs.
Day 23: Drive to Leh 3, 500 m across Chang Tang Plains and Indus -05 hrs.
Day 24: Final Departure fly from Leh-Delhi for connecting international flight.
Best seasons for Markha Valley Rupshu Tso Mori-Ri & Mentok Khang-Ri Peak:
The best time for this wonderful adventurous trek and climb is from late spring and autumn seasons, April and May as well till August months. Another best time is in autumn/fall September and October months.
April & May are fine clear days most of the time, with longer sun-light hours but can get overcast in the late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes. Autumn / Falls another best time for the climb and tour of Ladakh with a fine clear day. But days are short with sunlight hours can be freezing cold, especially in the morning, and night times will be clear with bright starry nights. Chances of snowfall during the climb.
For interested people can visit Ladakh for a tour and trekking during summer times of June to August also. As Ladakh falls within rain shadow area, where monsoon dark rain clouds blocked by the great Himalayas. That is why Ladakh most areas are dry and arid with fewer rains.
Religion and Culture:
Ladakh and the North West Himalaya are populated by Ladakhi people descendants of a mixed tribal race of Mons of North India, and Dards of Baltistan with Mongols of Central Asia. History shows the Mons were the first immigrants, followed by Dards who founded different settlements in the Indus valley. Follows strong Buddhism religion and culture similar to Tibetan culture of ancient Buddhism heritage with many monasteries of great religious significance.
