Trek and Climb of Kang Yatse Peak II, is a wonderful high-altitude walk within the pure wilderness; of Ladakh’s vast plain. An ever-exciting adventure leading you around the moon-like landscapes, where a few temporary settlements of yak herders are located. Kang Yatse Peak II at 6,250 m / 20, 600 feet high, is a small mountain; with a less technical effort to climb. A perfect introduction for beginners in mountaineering as well for veteran-interested mountaineers. Which adds more experience to planning other major expeditions around the Himalayas.
Great beautiful Ladakh is a different province, within North West India, the name Ladakh means a country of passes. Where average altitude of the wide territory of Ladakh is more than 3,000 meters high. The areas of Ladakh extend to South West of the Tibetan great plateau towards the North. It stretches as far as Pakistan in the west, including the beautiful towns of Kulu, and Manali towards the south. Located in the green hilly district of Himachal Pradesh, entering Ladakh from other parts of India, leads to a different experience. Kang Yatse Peak II Climb leads to the scenic countryside far from the main town of Leh, the capital of Ladakh. A journey at the end of magnificent Markha valley around Hemis National Park, enriched with exotic rare flora and fauna.
The adventure begins in the town of Leh, having time for acclimatization days. As well as an introductory tour to catch glimpse of a local tradition of Buddhism, exploring places of great cultural interest.
Then getting ready for the real adventure to Kang Yatse Peak II Climb, where the route leads away from human habitation. Entering the Markha valley from the remote village of Chilling, where the trek starts into the wide windswept country.
The trek can be strenuous in some areas on a steep uphill but ends with stunning views on reaching overnight camps. Having ample time for rest and

acclimatization and short practice climbs, and checking the gear for the climb. The adventure enters Hemis National Park famous for its mountain wildlife, and chances of spotting Snow Leopards if lucky.
Where abundant wild antelopes are seen on walks around isolated areas of great Markha valley. After several days of continuous trekking reaching our main goal and highlight at Kang Yatse Peak II Climb. Having ample time for an
acclimatization hike and practice climbing on snow, icy path, and saving energy
for the next big day.
An early morning start for a long climb and descent, however, the route is not technical. But leads to a strenuous up, climbing on a snowy trail till the top of
Kang Yatse Peak II Peak is reached. Enjoy the glamorous stunning views of the
surrounding mountain range covered in snow and ice. The panoramic views of the whole Zanskar Himal of Ladakh, as far as towards Karakoram Range. Include views of K2, in the far North West overlooking the mountains of Pakistan and Tibet across the borders.
After an exciting overwhelming Kang Yatse Peak II Climb, return on the same safe route to base camp. Then clearing the camp for the last final day trek to Chokdo a small settlement for an interesting drive to Leh. At Leh, our wonderful adventure to Kang Yatse II peak concludes with a scenic
flight to New Delhi.

Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpoche Airport 3,500 m and transfer
to hotel.
Day 02: In Leh for acclimatization and tour of Leh capital town, visit of
Chomo Gompa and Chokhang, Leh Palace.
Day 03: Morning drive to Alchi and Shey Gompa / monasteries and back to
Leh, with leisure evening.
Day 04: Drive to Chilling 3,200 m / 10,500 feet-(60 km) 02 hrs.), and trek to
Skiu 3,500 m (7 km), 03 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Markha 3, 700 m – 06 hrs. O/N Camp.
Day 06: Trek to Thachungtse 4, 235 m- 06 hrs. O/N Camp.

Day 07: Trek to Nimaling 4,730 m -04 hrs. O/N Camp.
Day 08: Trek to Kang Yatse Peak II base camp 5,150 m – 04 hrs.
Day 09: At base camp for acclimatization and short climbing exercise.
Day 10: Ascent of Kang Yatse Peak II, 6,250 m / 20,600 feet high.
Descent to Base Camp after more than 9 hours of tough climb.
Day 11: Clear the camp and trek to Chokdo and drive to Leh for overnight.
Approx. 06 hours walks and 2 hours’ drive.
Day 12: Depart for Delhi from Leh and to homeward bounds.

Itinerary

Morning after a short scenic of an hour flight to Leh from Delhi, on arrival at Leh,
Ladakh Kushok Bakula Rimpoche. As you head outside the air terminal, our staff
and guide receives you for short drive in the heart of Leh town to your Hotels.
Afternoon free at leisure, optional walk to the center of Leh and its market.

At Leh, for acclimatization and for exciting tour at places of interest, Leh has a
vast range of main bazaar on the street colorful local fruits and vegetables
vendors. The streets are busy with roadside restaurant, cafes and craft shops. The
old Leh Palace stands on the top of the high hill overlooking the Leh city and its
valley. The white Peace (Shanti) Stupa stands nearby high on hill which is worth a
visit for the great views of Leh. The world's highest Polo ground located beyond
the main bus station, rest of the day free at leisure to browse around Leh, Ladakh
capital.

Morning after breakfast, a full day tour taking a drive to Hemis, one of the largestand
wealthiest monasteries in Ladakh with more than 150 monks; an annual Hemis festival is held. The monastery stands in a gorge surrounded by mountain scenery, built in 18 th Century. On the way back to Leh visit Thiksey Gompa built in the 16th Century, situated on a hilltop. The monastery is enriched with Tibetan-style books, a huge Buddha statue, and excellent works of art.
Last stop on the way back to Leh, a tour of the ruined Shey Palace once a summer palace of the pre-Tibetan kings. Shey and its fort also known as Lachen Palkar
Palace, the massive nine-story stone structure lies at the base of the Tsemo ridge and towers over the old town. Built by King Senge Namgyal from 15 th till 17 Century in a Tibetan style.
From here drive to Alchi farm village for a tour of 10 th Century Alchi monastery of great religious and historical interest. After a great drive and tour of famous areas of Ladakh and its old religious and historical monasteries drive back to Leh for overnight.

Starting the adventure, on leaving Leh and urban civilization for a week, where drive leads through a flat and desolated flat plain along the Indus River. Reaching the confluence of Zanskar, our route diverts taking a U-turn and entering the Zanskar Valley. The drive leads up along the rough dirt tracks around Zanskar till it reaches Chilling. A little ahead of Chilling lies Kaya-Dho, and then crossing the river on a trolley and trekking on a gradual path with short and ups and down to the small village of Skiu. Where our overnight camp is set, meeting the rest of our trekking and camping staff with mule drivers. To carry all the camping equipment and baggage throughout the trek and climb.

Enjoy the breakfast at the camp in Skiu, after packing and getting ready for the long walk to Markha. The trek is not too strenuous, as the elevation rises about 300 m across 22 km distance walks. The route leads to cross the Markha River, several times. After an exciting second day of walking reaches Markha, a substantial village, complete with a derelict fort on a hillside. Just above the small village stands the old monastery, our overnight camp is set on a nice meadow.
Close to the village and its wide barley and mustard field, with time for a short stroll
around the village of Markha.

From Markha, morning starts heading due north-west facing views of Kang Yatse
peak II at above 6, 250 m. A magnificent snow-clad mountain dominates the
views for a couple of days, the trail leads to amazing sights of fascinating natural creations. Heading close to a large boulder, balanced precariously on top of consolidated earth spikes. The walk is pleasant on gradual ups and down till Thachungtse is reached, after crossing a small wooden bridge. Situated on a lovely valley for an overnight camp in beautiful landscapes at
Thachungtse. Also a popular place for herds of blue sheep that moves up and
down the steep cliffs of incredible agility.

After a wonderful overnight with a scenic valley at Thachungtse, the morning leads to a short climb to a high ridge, festooned with several Mani, a stone monument with prayer inscriptions and walls. As you walk come across twin small glacial lakes, and the views get better facing the peaks of Kang Yatse I and II. Includes views of Dzo Jongo East and West that reflect in the calm serene lakes. From here on beyond the Markha Valley on the cross junction of various routes to Kang Yatse peaks.
As walk slowly follows on a wide ridge reaching Nimaling for overnight camp before heading towards our main destination.

Day 8 :

After a pleasant overnight in nice valley at Nimaling, morning an interesting walk as route diverts from Nimaling valley. The trail leads to a faint path, almost invisible only an expert guide can trace the right route. The walk leads towards Kang Yatse II Peak base camp. Coming across where Langtang Chu that flows from Zalung Karpo-La, covered in rocks of old moraine. Finally the day ends on reaching Kang Yatse-II base camp for overnight and for the exciting adventure climb next day after having an acclimatization day.

Enjoy an extra free and leisure day after continuing walking for several days, can hike around at view-points. From the nearby hills, one can enjoy views of Twin Lakes with Kang Yatse I and II peaks, including Dzo Jongo East and West peaks.
Rest of the day practice climbing up the hills for better acclimatization for the next early
ascent to Kang Yatse Peak-II.

Descent to Base Camp after more than 9 hours of tough climb.
A Big Day! Start early for the long climb to the summit of Kang Yatse-II peak,
follow our expert lead guide. The route leads to a steep rise of 1,100 meters to
reach 6, 250 m high on top Kang Yatse II summit. Climb heads over loose moraine
and scree of rocks, one of the main obstacles to secure the foot en route.
Using the support of a trekking pole or ice axe, as climber heads to a crevasse covered
with snow. Depending upon the level of snowfall, sometimes needs to climb with
the support of a fixed rope for safety measures.
After a gruesome struggle for hours, they reach on top of Kang Yatse II Peak. Take a rest and enjoy the 360-degree panorama of the Zanskar range with the Karakoram and surround by high snow-capped peaks. Includes views of the beautiful valley down below. If the day is crystal clear one can view all the way to K2 peak in the far north-west. The world’s 2 nds highest, the views also include some mountains across the border of Tibet. After a great successful climb, achieving the final goal and highlights, descend carefully to base camp.

After completing all the tough walks, and clearing the camp, packing all the gear and garbage. Return journey downhill on rolling red hills made of the canyon and eroded cliffs. As the walk leads to further descent with short few ups and down to Chokdo a small village, situated around Shang Valley. From Chakdo, drive on a rough dirt track past Shang Sumdo, then downhill to reach the main highway near Hemis village and the monastery.
From here another few hour drive brings you to Leh, for the last overnight at Ladakh,
enjoy rest of the evening at leisure and browse around the streets of Leh.

Depending upon flight time for Delhi, our guide and staff transfers you to the

airport for scenic flight to Delhi. After a memorable adventure and experience on

But bright and sunny days in the best seasons from April to the summer month of June to August. As well in autumn/fall from September and October, in the spring season, above 3,000 m high. Minimum temperatures of minus 0° and a maximum of 20° Celsius not adding an extra wind-chill factor. In autumn the sun rises late by 5:30 a.m. and sunsets by 5 p.m. makes the morning and night time much colder with minimum temperatures from minus 5° to 10° Celsius. Depending upon altitude wise. Maximum of 15° to 20° Celsius, around a high altitude above 3,500 m, the sunlight is bright with strong UV. Traveling in Ladakh involves high altitude areas could be strenuous sometimes,
for travelers with known heart or lung, or blood diseases. Needs a doctor’s advice

water every day while on the tour against AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) and
