THE BEST SEASONS:

Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho Lake Trek to enjoy from spring to autumn and winter, except during the wet month of summer and the monsoon from mid-June to August. The best seasons are spring and autumn, most when the days are clear and fine for views and walks.

Spring starts in March and ends in May, one of the high and peak seasons for trekking around the Himalayas. Kajin Sara Lake trek, where days are mostly fine with sunny days. It can get cloudy and overcast sometimes with chances of light rains and snowfall. This is the best season for flowers and botanists when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom. Especially, the rhododendrons of all species and colors, the national flowers of Nepal.

Morning, late afternoon, and nights are cold but with longer sunshine hours from dawn till dusk. The next best season is autumn/fall, most days are crystal clear for views and treks with sunny days. Get dark soon due to limited sunshine hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Morning, late afternoon and nights are cold with chances of snowfall sometimes. Interested trekkers can venture during the winter times of Christmas and New Year Holidays, despite the colder months. Days are mostly sunny and bright for clear views and pleasant walks. But it gets dark soon, with sunrise late 6 a.m. and sunsets by 5:30 p.m.

Adventure to Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho the world’s highest lake, is a newly discovered glacial by mountaineers. It was when they were exploring the northern route to the summit of Lamjung Himal.

Lamjung Himal located in North Mid-West Nepal at 6,983 m/22,910 feet high, straddles between Lamjung and Manang districts of Gandaki province.

Kajin Sara or Shindig Tsho Trek leads you to a glacial lake formed by glaciers of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II and IV. The first ascent to Lamjung Himal was in 1974, by Derrick Chamberlain and Phillip Neame.

Lamjung Himal frequently ventured from the southern side en route to the large village of Ghan Pokhara. The areas of northern Lamjung Himal are unknown and least explored by a few groups of adventurers.

The new world’s highest Kajin Sara Lake was discovered, in 2019 by a group of mountaineers, when exploring this virgin remote area of Manang.

Kajin Sara / Shinkar Tsho Lake treks will be a great opportunity for all trekkers to venture on these off-the-beaten trails. After years Kajin Sara the world’s highest lake was discovered a few years ago, and only a few travelers seldom visit.

The Kajin Sara / Shinkar Tsho Lake trek is one of the shortest and most scenic adventures in the complete mountain wilderness. The walk leads you amidst the serene harmony of pristine nature, away from the main busy trail of Annapurna Circuit.

For years Tilicho Lake was considered, the highest lake at 4,919 m or 16,138 feet. Then by chance, Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho was founded near Chame, the headquarters town of the Manang district.

The Tilicho Lake is 4 km long and 1.2 km wide with a depth of 200 m.
Kajin Sara Lake is 1,500 m long and 600 m wide, recorded as the world’s highest lake.

The distance to Kajin Sara Lake is about 24 km/15 miles from Chame Town.

Day 03:         Drive to Bhesishar Town 760 m -05 hrs.
Day 04:         Drive to Chame Town 2,710 m in Manang -04 hrs.
Day 05:         Trek to Lamjung Himal Base Camp 4,500 m-05 hrs.
Day 06:         A free leisure day for acclimatization and short hikes.
Day 07:         Trek to Love Lake approx. 4,730 m -05 hrs.
Day 08:         Rest day for exploration of Kajin Sara Lake 5,002 m/16,410 ft.
and return to Love Lake.
Day 09:         Trek to Chame Town for an overnight halt in a nice lodge -06 hrs.
Day 10:         Drive to Kathmandu via Bhesishar -06 hrs.
Day 11:         In Kathmandu free and contingency day in case of a broken road
around Chame, Manang.
Day 12:         International departure for homeward bound.

Extension Trek:

After completing the short trek to Kajin Sara Lake, interested trekkers can extend the trek to Nar Phu. As well, as continue visiting the main Manang Village.
Trekkers can continue following the Annapurna Circuit route crossing high Thorang La Pass to Jomsom Town. The other best option is to trek to the former world’s highest Tilicho Lake.

This newly opened trekking trail to Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho Lake is a guideline. The walking distance and overnight camp, heights, can differ, where clean drinking water is available. However, the above program is the standard itinerary to follow.

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport, received by our guides and staff for a short transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.

Check your lovely room, then after getting refreshed, join the other members of Adventure to Kajin Sara Lake Trekking. Our guide or group leader briefs you about the treks, do’s and don’ts, local culture, as well camping, foods and lodges,
en route trek. This full information will help you enjoy the adventure with us, followed by a welcome group dinner in a Nepalese restaurant with a folk-culture program as entertainment while you enjoy the dinner.

A free leisure day in Kathmandu with options for exciting sightseeing tours around places of great historical interest. Kathmandu and adjoining cities are steeped with UNESCO World Heritage Sites. If not visited earlier, do not miss the charm and essence of Nepal before heading towards the high Himalayas.
Rest of the day preparations for the treks and purchasing needful trekking items.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast, then the adventure begins with an exciting overland
Journey to Bhesishar Town. The drive follows to lower warm farm villages and
towns then divert from the main Pokhara and Kathmandu highways.
The drive then heads towards Lamjung district at Bhesishar for an overnight halt, the headquarters town of Lamjung district. On reaching Bhesishar the gateway to
various adventures around Lamjung, Annapurna, and Manaslu Himal.
After checking into a nice lodge room, enjoy a stroll around the streets of
Bhesishar Town is lined with shops, stores, and restaurants. A good way to
experience and observe the local cultures of the natives Gurung and other hill
tribes.

From Bhesishar the drive follows the Masrsyangdi River to Syange village,
as road winds towards Jagat and Chamje. The drive enters Manang areas from Talbesi to reach Dharapani and Chame Town for lunch and an overnight stop. Chame is a large town and headquarters of the Manang district. Enjoy the comfort of a nice lodge and have time to explore the hill town.

After a good breakfast at Chame, loading camping gear and baggage on a mule, horse, and by porters. Start the adventure towards Kajin Sara/ Shinkar Lake via Lamjung Himal Base Camp. The walk follows a short motor road.
Then the trail follows towards Lamjung Himal Base Camp, a lovely hike through a beautiful serene forest filled with pine trees. The path leads to a level and the winding route then climbs to Lamjung Himal Base Camp. Trekkers must follow the lead guide, as there are two different paths, but it leads to the same point with a newly built and old path. The old worn trails are replaced due to difficult terrain and damaged paths with landslides. The newly constructed paths are much easier, as you follow our expert guides.

After a few hours of short steep climbs bring you to a meadow amidst boulders of rocks, and moraine at Lamjung Base Camp. It is a place with a simple small stone-built hut, made for travelers and trekkers. Enjoy the dramatic surrounding scenery of the towering majestic peaks of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II towards the west.

Camp is made on a grassy meadow for late lunch and overnight stops.
Rest of the afternoon explore the hidden pockets of Lamjung Himal Base Camp.
It is important to know that the source of clean water is scarce, due to barren and dry landscapes. The kitchen, camping staff, and porters walk for an hour or less to fetch the clean water. So that they can serve good meals to all trekkers and staff.

A day for acclimatization, after a good breakfast enjoy a short hike around Lamjung Himal Base Camp. As well as marvel at the mesmerizing views of surroundings beautiful landscapes and snow-capped peaks.

The walk from Lamjung Himal base camp follows a vague rocky path.
The adventure continues with a few short climbs to a small rocky ridge
amidst scenic views of surrounding giant snow peaks. After a short while, it reaches a small glacial pond shaped like a heart hence it is known as the Love Lake. The rest of the day enjoy having a rest with a hot lunch, after completing the good walks from Lamjung Himal Base Camp to Love Lake. Overnight in tented camps on a grassy meadow enclosed by towering snow mountain ranges.

Enjoy the day for good walks to our major destination Kajin Sara or Shinkar Tsho, Lake. The walk is moderate compared to previous days with fewer steep ups to negotiate. After a good breakfast, enjoy morning glorious views and start the trek to Kajin Sara Lake. It was discovered in 2019 by a group of Japanese mountaineers, hence named in Japanese language. The natives of Manang call Shinkar Tsho, as it is closer to the glaciers of a small Shinkar peak.
The word Tsho means lake, of Tibetan language origin, a short hike brings you to Kajin Sara Lake. It is located beneath the glaciers of Shinkar Himal and is also called Shinkar Tsho. Enjoy the grand super views of the surrounding giant peaks.
Annapurna and Lamjung Himal appear in different shapes than from the southern sides.

The views include Lamjung Himal, Koto Peak, and the pristine waters of Kajin Sara. After a wonderful experience trek back to Love Lake for lunch and overnight camping.

Morning breakfast amidst majestic views of surrounding towering snow-capped peaks. Leaving the camp at Love Lake, enjoy the last longest day trek to Chame Town, a pleasant walk downhill. The trail follows with a few short climbs to near Lamjung Himal Base Camp. After a good rest for a possible lunch stop, the walk continues heading down through lovely pines and rhododendrons forest.
After a pleasant trek reach the main road and then to Chame for the last overnight around Manang areas.

Start the day as early as possible after a good breakfast, the morning drive covers about 66 km/41 miles to Bhesishar. On reaching the large town of Bhesishar, the drive leads on a good road to join the main highway at Dumre.
From Bhesishar the driving distance is about 177 km/ 110 miles to Kathmandu, following the main busy highway. After an interesting drive of more than six hours reaching amidst the bustling city life of Kathmandu. On arrival transfer to respective hotels reaching by late afternoon or evening time.

Reserved an extra day in Kathmandu, as a contingency in case of damaged and broken road by landslides. Which occurs sometimes on the rough dirt road from Bhesishar to Chame Town. However, if all goes well as per our standard itinerary enjoy the free day at leisure activities and shopping souvenirs.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal as per your international flight time, our staff and guide will transfer you to the airport for homeward bound.
