The helicopter does not land at the Everest base camp due to the unavailability of smooth space for the Helipad. It is not safe, due to the uneven ground of glaciers and moraine can be unsafe for unexpected rock falls. As well avalanches can occur at any time and the views of

Mt. Everest is obstructed by adjoining peaks.

Itinerary

Helicopter operates from a Minimum of 6:30 a.m. to a Maximum of 8 a.m. Flight duration of 3-4 hours with stops for views and photographs and refreshments.

6 a.m. Wake up and have some refreshments at the hotel, our staff collects you for a short drive to Kathmandu domestic airport. After checking into security for a few minutes drives to Helipad, where the airline staff and captain welcome you.

After a brief introduction with the pilot, get on board and as the helicopter lifts off the ground. Enjoy views of Kathmandu city and the valley, as it rises higher views of Snow Mountains appear. Facing Manaslu and Ganesh Himal in the west with Langtang and Jugal Himal towards the north with majestic Mt. Gaurishankar.

As the helicopter heads due northeast glimpse of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The pilot makes a short landing at Lukla’s Tensing & Hillary Airport to drop off the fuel for the return journey. From Lukla flying high above Dudh Koshi River gorge and valley lined with lovely Sherpa villages. The chopper gets past Namche Bazaar, a famous mountain town, and then over to Tengboche Monastery.

How far is Mt. Everest from Kathmandu air or flying distance?

Approx. 200 km flying distance from Kathmandu to Everest base camp.
Taking nearly about less than 2 hours, to reach the exact point of landing close ahead from the actual Everest base camp.

How many hours do we fly and stop for:

Flying straight close ahead of Everest base camp can take an hour and half, but with stops like in Lukla. A little more than two hours, as well having stop for views of nearly half hour, weather permitting as per the pilot decision.

The other short stops for breakfast and refreshment at Everest View Hotel for maximum time of 30 minutes.

How many 8,000 m world’s highest mountains do we see?

Best Seasons for Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour:
Nearly all seasons of the year when the day is clear and promising for Helicopter flight and for the views. Except the wet times of Monsoon from mid-June to August. However the best time is in spring and autumn when days clear for views of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan peaks. Mornings can be cold, needs to be well equip with warm gear.
