Best seasons for Around Annapurna Himalaya & Tilicho Lake Trek:
The best time for this long and wonderful adventure is in the spring and autumn seasons, from March to May, and autumn/fall begins from September to November months.
Springtime from March to May will be much lively with wildflowers in seasonal bloom, especially the magnolia and rhododendrons the national flower of Nepal.
March to May fine clear day most of the time, with longer sun-light hours but can get overcast in the late afternoon with chances of snow sometimes on high altitude areas as well on passes. Autumn / Falls another best time for this trek with a fine clear day for views and walks. But days are shorter with sun-light hours, morning, late afternoon, and nighttime temperatures drop to freezing cold around the higher region with the bright starry night sky. Around Annapurna Himalaya & Tilicho Lake Trekking, takes you from east, north, west to south of the massive Annapurna Himalaya range. An exciting adventure from low semi-tropical paddy fields to cooler hills and towards an arctic cold zone of ice and snow.
Besides stunning views of the beautiful scenery, the local culture and customs of ancient Buddhism heritage are equally fascinating to experience.
The adventure commences with an exciting overland journey towards Nepal Mid-West around the low warm Lamjung area past nice Besisar town and beyond. Drive follows Masrsyangdi River upstream around a low warm farm and then heading towards high cooler hills reaching Dharapani village.
Dharapani is a nice traditional mountain village situated on the junction of Annapurna and Manaslu circuit en route to Manang.
From here our trek starts heading north-west through several villages adorned with Buddhism monuments and within a cool forest path. Slowly entering into the heart of Manang area as route leads to the cooler region at Chame, headquarter town of Manang district.
The walk leads to inner Manang, on leaving Chame following Masrsyangdi River and into lovely woodland of rhododendron and pine trees.
The adventure continues to high Manang Valley enclosed by an array of snow peaks with Chulu, Pisang, and Annapurna range.
At Manang village with an extra day for acclimatization, and to explore its beautiful viewpoints and places of great interest. A perfect place and height for rest day for acclimatization before heading towards higher country Tilicho Lake and Thorang-La Pass.
After spending an extra day in main Manang village with enjoyable time, from here leaving the main popular trail. Where adventure takes you far towards another hidden pocket of Manang at beautiful Tilicho Lake.
Although a picturesque spot, only a few trekkers seldom venture due to around this remote location, away from the main Thorang-La and Manang trail. Enjoy the walk-in a serene surrounding a great change after being on a busy route and off the beaten tracks. The adventure leads past Khangsar the last village towards Tilicho Lake base camp, a nice isolated spot with few small lodges.
A day at Tilicho Lake base camp for an excursion to beautiful Tilicho Lake, amidst staggering peaks of Gangapurna and Tilicho. The lake is regarded as holy for Hindu and Buddhists, considered the highest and deepest lake of Nepal. At Tilicho Lake enjoy a short hike around the serene lakeshore, and then on completing one of the highlights. The return journey takes you back on the main trail towards Thorang-La Pass, the highest point of the adventure at 5,416 m.
The toughest day with a steep climb on winding up to Thorang-La, the top festooned with colorful prayer flags. Enjoy a sweeping panorama of the high mountain range that surrounds the top of Thorang-La facing tremendous views of the Dhaulagiri Himal range. The breathtaking scenery extends towards Chulu, Damodar Himal with Annapurna II, III, and IV peaks. After exciting moments a long downhill reaches you at Muktinath, a lovely village located on windswept terrain.
Muktinath is a holy site for Hindus, thousands of devotees and pilgrims from all over India, Nepal visits for worship. The word Muktinath means a place to liberate oneself, visit the temple premises of great interest. At Muktinath in the comfort of a nice lodge with grand views of Dhaulagiri Himal and Nilgiri peaks.
From Muktinath last day trek takes you down to the wide plain of Kaligandaki River valley, to reach Jomsom. The headquarter town of Mustang district is an interesting place to end our adventure. Jomsom offers many fine lodges and hotels, located on the old Trans Himalaya Salt Trade Route of Nepal & Tibet.
Next early morning a short scenic flight from Jomsom brings you to Pokhara, a beautiful city blessed with natural beauty. A famous tourist spot of Nepal and in whole Himalaya located in the shadow of massive Annapurna Himalaya.
