THE BEST SEASONS:

For Annapurna North Base Camp Trek to enjoy from spring to autumn and winter,

except the wet month of summer and the monsoon from mid-June to August.
The best seasons are spring and autumn, most when the days are clear

and fine for views and walks.

Spring starts in March and ends in May, one of the high and peak seasons for

trekking around the Himalayas. When days are fine with sunshine, most of the days. It can get cloudy and overcast sometimes with chances of light rains and snowfall. This is the best season for flowers and botanists when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom. Especially the rhododendrons of all species and colors, the national flowers of Nepal.

Morning, late afternoon, and nights are cold but with longer sunshine hours from

dawn till dusk. The next best season is autumn/fall, most days are crystal clear for

OVERVIEWS:

Annapurna-I North Base Camp trekking is an adventure on the hidden trails around the Midwest Himalayas. Located close to the giant peaks of
Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s and Annapurna Himalayan ranges.
Just above the world’s deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki River, the trek leads to hidden pockets on the least ventured routes.

Annapurna-I is the world’s 10th highest peak at 8,091 m/26,545 feet, French Expeditions first summited it. The first 8,000 meters ever climbed in the history of mountaineering. The late legendary mountaineers Maurice Herzog and
L. Lachenal on June 3rd, 1950. Three years ahead of Mt. Everest was
conquered by Tenzing and Hillary on May 29th, 1953.

This makes the adventure to Annapurna-I North Base Camp Trek more exciting and interesting with the first successful history in mountaineering. 

It is an exciting adventure that follows the legendary trail of early French Expeditions, around the remote isolated high country.
The new raw routes have recently been established due to the construction of a small hydroelectricity project.

The rest of the treks lead to absolute wilderness within a dense forest of tall rhododendrons, pines, and fir trees. Soon the lush green vegetation gives way to sheer mountainous terrains as you reach the base of Annapurna-I.

Outline Itinerary:

Day 01:         Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.

Day 02:         In Kathmandu free day preparation for trek and tour options.

Day 03:         Fly to Pokhara 860 m, and drive to Tatopani 1,090 m
(90 km / 56 miles) via Baglung and Beni Towns. -04 hrs.

Day 04:         Drive to Hum Khola 2,710 m -04 hrs. Overnight in a tented camp.

Day 05:         Trek to Busket Mela 3,650 m-06 hrs. Overnight in a tented camp.

Day 06:         Trek to Camp Site near North Annapurna Base Camp 3,960 m-05 hrs.

Day 07:         At Campsite hike to Annapurna North Base Camp 4,190 m
/13,747 feet. Walk back to Camp Site near Sun-Khola.

Day 08:         Trek to Hum Khola -06 hrs. Overnight in a tented camp.

Day 09:         Drive to Pokhara 860 m via Tatopani -06 hrs.

Day 10:         Fly to Kathmandu for a 30 mins flight and transfer to the hotel.

Day 11:         Transfer to international airport for homeward bound flight.

This newly opened Annapurna-I North Base Camp Trek, is a guideline.
The walking hours and distance, including overnight camp, heights, can differ.
Depending upon good camp site, where clean drinking water are available. However, the above program is the standard itinerary to follow.

Interested trekkers with more time, can extend the itinerary visiting Khopra Ridge and Khair Lake. After reaching Tatopani or climb to Ghorepani and Poon Hill for more scenic views.

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport, received by our guides and staff for a short transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.

Check your lovely room, then after getting refreshed, join the other members of Annapurna North Base Camp Trekking. Our guide or group leader briefs you about the treks, do’s and don’ts, local culture, as well camping, foods and lodges,
en route trek. This full information will help you enjoy the adventure with us, followed by a welcome group dinner in a Nepalese restaurant with a folk-culture program as entertainment while you enjoy the dinner.

A free leisure day in Kathmandu with options for exciting sightseeing tours around places of great historical interest. Kathmandu and adjoining cities are steeped with UNESCO World Heritage Sites. If not visited earlier, do not miss the charm and essence of Nepal before heading towards the high Himalayas.
Rest of the day preparations for the treks and purchasing needful trekking items.

Taking the earliest short scenic flight to scenic city in Pokhara, facing breathtaking
views of the Himalayan peaks. Then land at Pokhara domestic airport our trekking
staff receives you, and then get board in a vehicle. For an exciting drives, heading
further west from Pokhara city and the valley with alluring scenery of green
terraced hills. As well as views of the Annapurna Himalayan range of peaks, then
the drive head up to Nau Danda and Kande village. The road follows downhill
towards Kusma town and then to Beni town. From here on dirt country road
following the Kali Gandaki River upstream to Tatopani farm town.

The village town offers many nice hotels and lodges, after checking into a nice
rooms. After lunch enjoy a short walk for a refreshing dip in a warm pools of
Tatopani. A lovely spot with natural hot spring of Tato-Pani literally means
Hot-water in Nepali. Rest of the day explore the town and the cultures of mid-hills
people of Western Nepal.

Morning after a pleasant overnights in Tatopani, morning after breakfast get on four-wheel drive. For another exciting drives of few hours towards our overnight
destination. From Tatopani, the drive heads on the country rough road on winding ups, on leaving the warm sub-tropical farm areas.

An interesting ride entering the mountainous dirt tracks, then reaching a small Hydroelectricity power project. It is under construction, witness the construction sites, as the drive continues over the bridge above Kali Gandaki River.

The drive then ends on reaching Hum Khola for an overnight stop, a small
settlement. This mountain place offers basic facilities with few huts serving as a lodge and Tea-House. Finding suitable level space, the staff will set up the tented camp for first overnights in tents. The foods, cooked by our expert chef’ and kitchen staff, served on a large dining tent according to group size.
Enjoy the dinner prepared from our separate camping kitchen tents cooked in LPG gas or kerosene stoves.

After an overnight with good camping meals, having breakfast, start the day towards our destination at Annapurna North Base Camp.
From here onwards altitude gains slowly, walking with easy pace following the high route with steep ups. Considering the risk of altitude sickness, which can occur to some trekkers. If not taking precautions, like walking at fast pace, follow the guide, with short refreshing rest. As the trek progresses, air gets much cooler, enjoy the views of the waterfall, named Fut- Futey.
The mountain path leads further, climbing towards Sandi-Kharka, a place with a temporary hut and shelter of the cattle herder. Possible lunch stop prepared by our kitchen staff and cook, depending upon clean water available for cooking.
If not staff will provide a packed lunch, but worth having a good rest along with grand views of the surrounding landscapes.

From here the walk leads to another small area with a simple shelter of the cattle herder. This isolated area is called Ghupapahant, it means a place with an overhanging caves. Enjoy the grand look of Tilicho Peak, towers above the high rocky cliffs. The walk continues with steep climb for an hour or less to Busket Mela for overnight camp. After a long day and exciting walks, a lovely spot Busket Mela with two simple huts. Our tents will be set on the best available ground, with clean drinking water for cooking.

Today’s walk leads quite close towards Annapurna-I North Base Camp, also known as French Camp. As this region was first explored by the French Expedition in 1950 for the conquest of Annapurna-I summit.

After breakfast enjoy the pleasant walks with few steep climbs amidst dramatic landscapes scenery. Around this area, chances of spotting some wildlife, like mountain goats, Himalayan Thar or elusive snow leopards. As the region is unspoiled and undisturbed by mass flow of trekkers. The walk continues coming across a small Hindu shrine of Lord Shiva, located by the glacial small lake.
This place is called Nanchang or Pancha Kunda, it is also a pilgrimage site for local Hindu followers. Overnight camp is set by the lake enclosed by giant snow-capped peaks. Enjoy the afternoon marveling the picturesque scenery of the surrounding towering snow-dusted mountain range.

Enjoy the day with a short hike, after having good breakfast then head towards
the main highlights of the adventures. A short hour hike with a climb on the rocky moraine of ice and snow sometimes on the faint path.

After a good scenic walk reaches Annapurna North Base Camp at 4,190 m
(1, 3747 feet). The highest spot of the adventure, enjoy the stunning views of North Nilgiri’s (7,061 m), Nilgiri’s Central (6,940 m). Includes Nilgiri’s South
(6,839 m), Tilicho peak (7,134 m), Annapurna Fang or Vara Shikar Chuli (7,647 m). As well as the peaks of Khangsar Kang also called Roc Noir (7,485 m), and the Annapurna-I (8,091 m). After enjoyable and most exciting views trek back to Camp Site.

The return journey leads on the same scenic route, with more descents and short steep ups. Reaching back into the green forest of pines and rhododendrons tall tree. Then finally, ends the longest day trek of the adventure reaching
Hum-Khola. Enjoy the last overnight in a tented camp, around the remote corners of Nepal Midwest Himalayas.

After enjoying last camping breakfast, board in a jeep or similar four-wheel drive. Enjoy the exciting drive downhill to Tatopani for possible lunch stops.
The afternoon drive continues to Beni or Baglung town, then with a pleasant drive to Pokhara. Reaching Pokhara by late afternoon or evening, in time before dinner and in the comfort of a nice hotel.

The morning after breakfast at the hotel, as time for flight to Kathmandu, transfer to Pokhara domestic airport. After checking in, board on the airplane for a sweeping panoramic flight to Kathmandu. On arrival at the Kathmandu airport, a short drive to the hotels, the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal as per your international flight time, our staff and guide will transfer you to the airport for homeward bound.
